Craniosacral therapy has the potential to transform the patterns of restriction and resistance in our lives at a very fundamental level, thereby eliminating disease and restoring health.
Craniosacral therapy is based on the work of American
born osteopath, William Sutherland. In the 1930's he discovered that the
the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal chord (cerebrospinal fluid) fluctuated in a rhythmic cycle. These fluctuations bring nutrients, peptides, hormones and other essentials substances to all the cells of the body and
in turn wash away waste products. Through very subtle, and gentle manual manipulation of the skull, spine, and sacrum, practitioners can remedy structural distortions that affect these fluctuations.
This therapy is a gentle and yet an extremely powerful form of treatment which can be helpful to
many people and in most conditions - from minor aches and pains through to severe and persistent health problems.
It is a healing process which can
influence the deeply held patterns of disease. both the physical and
psychological effects which accumulate throughout life as a result of
illness and can become held within the body - leading to ill health and
disease.
This is often a non contact therapy, although
light physical
contact is generally only to the head and neck and spine of the client.
Very young children and especially babies can really
benefit from Craniosacral therapy and only a few sessions are generally
required.
Sessions
last for about one hour and cost between £30 and £50 per session.
Note:
Sometimes Craniosacral Therapy is also known as Cranio-Sacral Therapy,
mostly in the US.
