31 December 2010 - Metta receives over 70,000* visitors (sessions) and over 400,000* page views per month. (*more)

22 December 2010 - 2011 Moon phases added.

1 October 2010 - The web site icon that has been in use since 2001 has been updated to a new design. Also the home page has been simplified.

18 August 2010 - The co.uk domain name KindToMe has been incorporated within metta.org.uk to avoid confusion with the international service.

12 August 2010 - A widget has been added across the site  to allow easy access and sharing via social networking, such as; Twitter, Facebook, Bebo, Google, and other service across the web. The links are either at the bottom of the left border or just below the navigation within the left border.

23 July 2010 - The Health news feed has been temporarily removed, we hope to resume this service shortly.

24 March 2010 - In June 2004 Metta.org.uk announced reaching 15 million hits. For some years we have stopped reporting these figures. Mainly because Metta now receives over a million hits each month. Metta.org.uk will be 10 years old next year (In April 2011!) so it seemed appropriate to start celebrating now because site design and the concept of Metta.org.uk started in March 2000. Metta.org.uk was quietly launched on the 1st April 2001

2009

11 September 2009 - Mobile content has been expanded a little, with more to come soon, watch this space!

28 August 2009 - The mobile content has been expanded to include Retreat Centre listings and the Event/Workshop listings.

22 August 2009 - A beta mobile phone/device Yoga search has been introduced at http://www.metta.org.uk/m This area will be expanded in the near future to include other areas of the site. Your feed back would be very welcome - please let us know the type of device and your experience of this new mobile facility.

23 April 2009 - Minor changes to navigation and layout have been carried out to improve the usability of the site.

17 March 2009 - Article on the Feldenkrais Method has been added to the Therapies section.

21 January 2009 - Some improvements have been made to the discussion forums including the discussion forum search.

03 January 2009 - The ever popular Event Listings are now £7.75 per entry.

2008

01 December 2008 - Today sees the launch of a new external promotional campaign to promote the service Metta.org.uk offers which will run for the next 3 months.

01 May 2008 - Advertising rates have been re evaluated to offer a more competitive service and attract more direct customers thereby reducing the dependency on agency services. For more information click here

29 August 2007 - Press page updated.

24 August 2007 - Event and Workshop listings now cost £7.25, a small rise of 25p, the first in 2 years.

22 August 2007 - Banner advertising at Metta.org.uk has been simplified and now included 120x600 ads. For further information and rates click here.

01 May 2007 - Due to high banking charges we have had to raise the charge for individual listings to £8.45 per year.

04 March 2007 - UPDATE The Petition is now closed. Around 10,000 signed.

20 February 2007 - After careful consideration Metta.org.uk supports the petition to broaden the therapies available within the NHS and that they should go beyond Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and similar forms of therapeutic approach to mental health - Sign the petition to the government. The petition asks government to consider other psychotherapy approaches, not only CBT, in the proposed expansion of psychotherapeutic services within the NHS, instead of restricting choice for members of the public to one only model of therapy.

Details from petition: The proposal by Lord Layard to increase by 10,000 the number of cbt therapists in the NHS ignores the benefits to people of other forms of therapy. Relationship based therapy, such as the Person Centred Approach, and others, have a proven record of helping to alleviate distress and to change lives.

06 February 2007 - Yet further measures have been introduced to reduce spam and other unwelcome content and contacts forcing a way onto and through the site.

25 January 2007 - Questions have been raised regarding censorship within the forums.

Some names of individuals were removed (within the Yoga Forum) for legal reasons. If someone says person x is no good it is subjective. But if someone does this within a forum the "victim" could take legal action unless there is legal proof of fact. We have been contacted by solicitors in the past threatening us with defamation proceedings and do not wish to go down that avenue again.  Whilst we appreciate all views, personal attacks are unwelcome within the forums, never mind the legal ramifications. We endeavour to remove offensive posts and a number have been removed for this reason. However there is also the issue of freedom of speech and we try to draw a balance.

15 December 2006 - Improvements have been made to make this site more compatible with the Mozilla Firefox browser

11 December 2006 - The offices of the Dalai Lama have confirmed that the recorded chanting in Sanskrit is not the Dalai Lama. They also confirm that he has never chanted at the bed of a dying or ill person in Sanskrit. We would like to apologise for the previously misinformed information and CD details posted on this site.

16 November 2006 - Banner advertising rates have been reduced - More information.

13 October 2006 - We have been unable to verify the authenticity of the Om CD. It has been asserted that it is Hein Bratt, so although we believe it sounds very different we have withdrawn the CD and all related information until further notice.

6 October 2006 - A number of people have questioned the authenticity of the Dalai Lama chanting CD therefore until we know for certain no copes will be available from this site.

19 September 2006 - Due to a server failure all forum posts for the last 20 days have been lost, also some registration and listing applications may have been lost during the last 7 days, we are working to restore any lost entries.

14 August 2006 - The .com and .net secondary domains have been dropped due to lack of use and excessive costs of maintaining these secondary domain extensions.

18 August 2005 - There is currently a problem for users of AOL. AOL have introduced extreme measures to prevent spam, unfortunately this is also blocking some legitimate emails to AOL users. If you have registered or are listed with an AOL address you may not receive any email. We are talking with AOL to solve this.

A Blog will shortly be introduced for all registered users (Watch this space).

15 August 2005 - Over the last few days most listed practitioners and services have been written to requesting financial support to maintain this service. This is the first time in 5 years that payments have been requested in order to maintain this service.

08 August 2005 - Further improvements have been made for registered users. Also the navigation at Metta has been updated and improved. Any comments are welcome, please use the feedback page (There is a link at the bottom of every page)

25 July 2005 - Some major changes have been implemented to improve updating of listings, events and classified ads. Registered users can now view all entries from one page. (Work will continue to include older entries within this improved service)

17 July 2005 - The listing search has been improved and updated to include more search options and include other areas of the site. Further improvements will be made shortly.

11 July 2005 - To improve security and protect against spam all listing email addresses have been replaced with an email contact form. We hope this will provide protection and make contacting the listed therapists, teachers, and centres easier and more direct.

28 June 2005 - The User Registration area has finally been repaired. Small Ads and member registrations can now be updated. Event and Listing updates are still off line. Sorry for any inconvenience while this work is completed.  PS. To Date Metta.org.uk has received well over 24 million hits!

21 June 2005 - Yoga Forum layout changed to move towards archiving older posts, further improvements will follow shortly.

17 June 2005 - To help maintain this service metta is now able to accept payments and donations via PayPal. It is hoped that this will help to cover the cost of providing this service. To make credit card donations and payments for services on line.

06 June 2005 - A free to download book has been added to the Yoga Section. The Book Hatha Yoga by Yogi Ramacharaka was first published in 1904! The book is in pdf format and comes in A4 and A5 format for easy printing.

03 March 2005 - Links have been added to most areas of Metta to allow visitors to make donations in support of Red Nose Day 2005 - The Comic Relief Charity until the 12 March 2005.

02 March 2005 - A number of small improvements have been made to enhance the speed and performance of databases. There continue to be small but significant outstanding difficulties which need to be resolved where registered users have been unable to update Events and other records, this also applied to the editing of Forum entries. Work continues to find a way of resolving these.

31 January 2005 - It's official, this site received over one million hits during the month of January. Click here for further details.

19 January 2005 - Recent publicity saw the number of visitors at Metta peak at over 3,500 visitors in one day, that's over 10,000 page views in one day. The server coped well considering all this equates to around 100,000 hits in a day. So the basic server upgrade late last year was a lucky benefit as the old server was struggling to cope.

2004

7 November 2004 - With over 18.5 million hits to date and a growing number of visitors each day, service is only just being maintained.  With the growing number of visitors and the high level of demand made at peak times, it is something of a miracle that Metta.org.uk keeps running.  It will become essential to move to a really new dedicated server, however, the cost currently outstrips income. If anyone has a spare £1,500 to contribute to this work or a current web server going spare, your assistance would be much appreciated! - Perhaps via Sponsorship or Advertising. 20 August 2004 - Metta has moved to a new server today, it seems to have gone very smoothly (fingers crossed that nothing got lost in the move!).

22 June 2004 - Due to technical problems with a database all of the Yoga Forum posts between 3rd April 2004 and 22nd June 2004 have been deleted. We are still trying to rescue these from the damaged database in order to reinstate them. Security and privacy of personal information has not been affected by this database failure.

19 June 2004 - Metta received it's 15 millionth hit yesterday! After a prolonged shaky period where costs far outstripped income Metta is now approaching financial break even (excluding capital costs which may never be recovered).

10 May 2004 - Metta can also be reached via (REMOVED Aug 2006) and (REMOVED Aug 2006) These domains are little used but will help to reduce confusion, add accessibility, allow for possible expansion and generally improve the service Metta.org.uk offers.

28 March 2004 - Some technical problems have been fixed. The Registered user area and Events section issues will be resolved shortly.

20 March 2004 - Due to technical problems all database information and updating is very unstable at present we hope to resolve these problems very soon.

19 December 2003 - The 2004 calendar has been delayed, in part because of funding problems (see below). It is hoped the calendar will be on line for download shortly. 

14 November 2003 - Due to the popularity of Metta.org.uk we are running into financial problems! Our current server cannot cope with the usage and we may have to move to a new dedicated server. This move will cost well over £1,000 a year. 10 November 2003 - Today Metta received it's 10,000,000th hit (10,000,728). Great news but it means we may need to move to a new dedicated server. (See above)

2 June 2003 - Metta is moving and our land based contact details have changed. On 26th May Metta received it's seven millionth hit, (7,006,323) the next celebratory announcement will be the 10,000,000th hit!

30 March 2003 - Metta celebrates it's six millionth hit today (6,007,173) that's over one million since February.

29 March 2003 - The move to new servers is now complete. Unfortunately Metta.org.uk was not available for about 32 hours during the move due to unforeseen technical problems.

17 March 2003 - Following a few problems with servers Metta will be moving again in the next 3-4 days. Service will be interrupted for about 24 hours. Once Metta has moved visitors should see in improvement in page loading speeds.

9 February 2003 - We have been experiencing a number of technical problems with the server since the move. We hope to resume normal service shortly.

8 February 2003 - Metta has received its five millionth hit today, that's another million since the 11 December. More..

10 September 2002 - Aromatherapy, Reiki and other therapy searches improved and updated, also CAR FREE DAY introduction added for Sep 22nd.

26 June 2001 - Aside from a few minor layout changes we are pleased to say that this web site will be featured in a forthcoming book which is published by Microsoft Press.  More info

16 June 2001 - A small advertising campaign has been launched to improve awareness of Metta. If you work in or run a holistic centre and are willing to provide a small space for leaflets please let us know and we will send a few out to you.

19 May 2001 - Further improvements to the search facilities and to the Therapies Section implemented.

27 April 2001 - Within the next month or so we will be setting up a small on line shop which will offer yoga mats, blocks, and belts at realistic prices. This service will help to support Metta, and provide quality products for people in the UK. Please click here for further information.

1 April 2001 - Metta has finally launched! Content will continue to grow over the next 4 weeks, four months and for years to come! Publicity will, we hope, continue to grow too. 19 February 2001 - Sadly the public launch of Metta has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. Metta is also moving to Devon in the next few weeks which has added to the tasks outstanding, so a decision to delay had to be made. Sorry for any disappointment caused to regular visitors, I hope your patience can hold out until the end of March. A sneak preview of the launch site layout (same basic content) can be viewed by special request. Send email for further details to office @metta.org.uk This delay will now extend the preparation period to just over one year! About 4 months longer than anticipated. Following the resolution of the bankruptcy of a domain provider Metta has now secured it's intended domain - METTA.ORG.UK. metta.co.uk will however remain in use.

8 February 2001 - Progress on the launch site remains hectic, new search methods, increased editorial, simplified discussion forums and improved navigation are nearing completion. Work on workshop timetables and timetables for classes continues. Work on the travel section continues.....A long way to go before the 23rd.

30 January 2001 - Metta is moving to a new server which will improve the speed of service when we launch. This work will take about 3 days,  during this time service will be interrupted and a little erratic.

5 January 2001 - Minor changes to search facility and therapy section. Christmas and New Year messages removed, farewell to to year 2000.
